# Add a Printer on a Mac
Use this guide to manually add **any** network printer (including Brother and Canon) to your Front Row Mac.

## Step 1 – Open Printer Settings
1. Click the **Apple menu **.
2. Go to **System Settings** (or **System Preferences** on older macOS).
3. Click **Printers & Scanners**.

## Step 2 – Add a Printer
1. In **Printers & Scanners**, click the **“+”** button.
2. macOS will search for nearby printers.
### If You See Your Printer Automatically
- Select it from the list.
- Click **Add**.
- Follow any prompts for driver installation.
### If You Need to Add by IP
1. At the top of the **Add Printer** window, click the **IP** tab.
2. Enter the printer IP address provided by IT, for example:
- **Brother NY Printer:** `192.168.4.165`
- **Canon NY Printer:** `192.168.3.28`
3. Set:
- **Protocol:** `Line Printer Daemon – LPD`
- **Name:** Something helpful, e.g., `NY Office Brother` or `NY Canon PRO-1000`
- **Location:** Optional (e.g., `NY HQ Printer Station`)
4. Choose the appropriate printer driver:
- Let macOS choose automatically, **or**
- Select the exact model if listed.
5. Click **Add**.

## Step 3 – Complete Any Driver Prompts
If macOS prompts you to:
- Download additional software
- Confirm driver installation
Click **Allow** or **Install** as required.

- Make sure you’re on the correct Wi-Fi network (e.g., **FrontRowGroup**) when adding office printers.
- If the printer doesn’t appear or connection fails, verify:
- IP address
- Network connection
- VPN state (if remote)
